Hello, Bookworm!

Thank you for visiting my website and choosing to learn more about my work as an author.

I grew up around dogs, first Mila and then Smoky (pictured), who each went on many wonderful adventures and lived to a good old age, and I especially love including 'man's best friend' or some other favorite animal throughout most of my stories.

Other Interests:

I have been playing trombone since about 2010, euphonium from mid-2019, and always like getting together with a few friends to 'make a joyful noise' sharing music. I also enjoy a bit of freelance photography when I get the chance, especially if it involves taking pictures of sunsets, and several of my book covers feature images that I have taken myself.

More Background

I come from a household full of avid readers, so there was always plenty of books for my three older siblings and I to choose from whenever we felt like it, and that in addition to being homeschooled using a very literacy-based program seemed to make my taste for creative writing a very natural progression, starting from my early love of reading and then developing more strongly over time.

My books all come with a wide range of engaging characters and are full of memorable scenes that tug the heartstrings, often leaving the reader longing for more... Several independent reviewers have described them as being relatable, heartwarming, compelling, delightful, charming, and touching!

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ" - 1 Peter 4:10-11.

That's why my main focus as an author is to create engaging chapter books for children, generally aged between 8-14 years, who are able to read simple plot lines on their own, seeking to help them grow in confidence and learn about real-life issues, even within fictional settings. A long-term goal for my writing is to present younger readers with a wider range of material which illustrate high moral standards and assist those children to personally embrace these traits in their own day-to-day lives. Common themes found throughout my writing are concepts of friendship or loyalty between characters, accepting responsibility, problem-solving, not judging merely by appearances, overcoming difficult situations, and caring for others.

"So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love." - Romans 12:5-10a.
